America’s Restaurant Advocates—Key Advocate Program—by the
National Restaurant Association is an initiative underway to have at least one
Key Restaurant Advocate in every single congressional district to effectively
communicate and advocate on priority legislative issues to all Members of
Congress on behalf of the industry.
What is a Key Advocate?
A Key Advocate serves as the lead advocate and liaison
between their Member of Congress and the NRA on priority industry issues. Key
Advocates volunteer to actively build and cultivate a professional relationship
with their Member of Congress about the restaurant industry. Key Advocates work
with the NRA to identify the best opportunities to engage their Members, as
well as pertinent content and messaging.
What is the time
commitment?
Key Restaurant Advocates are volunteers. We understand that
restaurateurs are busy people, and we need you to continue running your
business! Maintaining a relationship with your Member includes scheduling
in-district meetings, serving as a resource about the industry for their staff
and sharing pertinent industry information with their office as needed.
What’s in it for you?
As a Key Restaurant Advocate, you will gain exclusive access
to inside the beltway information and become a de facto member of the National
Restaurant Association’s Political Advocacy team.
Also included:
- In-depth training on industry issues
- Recognition in monthly Advocate email newsletter and bi-monthly Restaurant Advocate publication
- Conference calls with NRA leadership as issues emerge
- Private Key Advocate events across the United States
- Special invitations to host and/or participate in Capitol Hill fly-ins and other Washington, D.C. events
- Invitations to host Members of Congress at local in-state visits
